The series “Trees Know Soul” involves 3 diptychs, The Holy Couple, Soul’s Dual Nature and The Primal Couple.
What is it that nature and art have in common?
They are containers, holding our experiences in a way that gets us in touch with what we actually experience at any given moment. They are “a living resource” that’s there for our hearts to connect with Spirit’s dance with creation’s Soul.
Albert Einstein said, “Truth is what stands the test of experience.”
When in touch with what’s true about us, we experience integration of sexual and spiritual energies and a sense of balance and wholeness. Sexual and spiritual energies are powerful and, in many settings, exploited to serve our “wanting brain” rather than our hearts and Soul connection.
The PoeTrees Project, Trees Know Soul, is meant to help us create a non-exploitive “holding space” allowing us to get in touch with and integrate sexual and spiritual energies in a way that’s healing, balancing, whole-making and community-building.
These PoeTrees lend conviction to Soul-life in nature and open our eyes to what gets neglected in everyday life. Soul is everywhere, encouraging us to let go of sentimentality—our attachment to good whilst denying the bad—so together we can breathe life into klichés and tab into what’s true and powerful about us as stewards of creation’s heart and Soul.
Diptychs are teaching us about the relational and sensual nature of consciousness. You can purchase and download each diptych for $1.80.
The Holy Couple

SpiritFlesh reveals the sacred dance between creation’s spiritual and physical nature. Like we were born, Christ (our Spirit) was born. This makes Him human and us and our Soulmother (Flesh) Divine.
To affirm your Divine and human nature, contemplate this diptych and chant:
You are Spirit, You are Soul, in human Flesh, come dance with me, come dance with us. You are Sprit, You are Soul, come dance with us, come dance with all.

Soul’s Dual Nature

Wounded and Whole is a portrait of Soul’s physical and spiritual nature, wound-able and whole-making. The tree’s body on the left is wounded, like we get wounded when we “turn out” to face the world and each other. And the body on the right is held up by an arm, like we get picked up by Soul’s Arm when we “turn in” to commune with our Creator.
Chant: I am the Soul that flows through you; I am the Soul that flows through all; bring me all your wounded selves I’ll make them whole, I’ll make them whole. Our Spirit repairs what our ignorance tears. I am the Soul that flows through you; I am the Soul that flows through all; bring me all your wounding selves, I’ll make them whole, I’ll make them whole. Our Spirit repairs what our ignorance tears.

The Primal Couple

This diptych depicts male and female aspects of nature’s soul and represents birth and rebirth. TreeSpirit, Baumgeist, on the left, expresses seeing and the tree trunk, Baumfrau, on the right, expresses experiencing life on earth.
Contemplate the primal couple and let it inspire deep seeing and experiencing:
See yourself on stage in relationship with a part of self or another person you are struggling with. Remember that you are consciousness and, therefore, all parts. You are the actors on stage and you are also the witness in the audience. Become aware that TreeSpirit is there with you and chant (or recite):
I see you see the whole of me, I see you see us all, I let my selves feel seen by you and me and all. I see you see the whole of me, I see you see us all, I let my selves feel seen by you and me and all.
